The Meaning of the Name “Amongst Us”

Minister Josh preached: Dear brothers and sisters, today we gather in remembrance of our beloved departed soul, whom we shall refer to as "Amongst Us." It holds profound significance.

When we say Amongst Us we acknowledge that our beloved has not truly left us; rather, she has gone to a different realm. Death is not the end but a continuation of our journey. Our dearly departed remains a part of our lives, residing in our hearts and minds, and guiding us through our memories and prayers. By naming Amy "Amongst Us," we celebrate her enduring presence among our community, reminding ourselves that love transcends even the boundaries of life and death.

Furthermore, this name serves as a powerful symbol to the unity of our community.
By keeping her memory alive, we honor her legacy and inspire ourselves to follow the path of righteousness that she walked. When we think of her as "Amongst Us," we invite her spirit into our gatherings, our reflections, and our prayers, ensuring that she will never be forgotten.

The Bible tells us 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Do not think of Amy Chapman as dead but alive with the Lord. This verse encourages us to embrace our belief in the afterlife and to recognize that those who have passed on continue to live in a different form, receiving blessings for the good deeds we perform in their memory.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, let us carry this name "Amongst Us" with grace and gratitude. Let it be a reminder that our community is bonded not only by the physical presence of our loved ones but also by the spiritual ties that remain unbreakable through prayer, remembrance, and love. May the memory of our departed illuminate our paths and nurture our hearts as we strive to embody the values they held dear.
